WAMS Mediator Certification: 1988
Accomplishments: Judge Gebhardt has focused
her practice on negotiation, arbitration and mediation since leaving
her private practice in Oregon in the late 1970's. Following service as
a Hearing Examiner, with the Dept. of Employment Security, Judge
Gebhardt became an Industrial Appeals Judge in Washington State, with
primary responsibility for the adjudication of disability and related
claims. She has arbitrated more than 300 claims and mediated or served
as a settlement judge in over 400 cases in a variety of areas, with
primary emphasis on contract disputes and tort claims involving both
damage and liability issues. Her mediation practice focuses on claims
involving domestic relations matters or personal injury claims
involving medical standard of care issues. Additional practice
experience has included disputes involving fraud, safety and health
violations, race and gender discrimination, employment, occupational
exposures and injuries, federal and state benefit programs, and
consumer protection. She has particular experience in family, consumer,
contract and financial claims involving business relationships and
valuation issues through her involvement with numerous Attorney General
programs.
In addition to serving as a mediator, Judge
Gebhardt serves as a single or swing arbitrator in UIM, tort and
