WAMS Mediator Certification: 1986
Accomplishments: Upon graduation from the
University of Washington School of Law, Mr. Levy served in Navy JAG as
trial and defense counsel. Thereafter, he practiced primarily in injury
and death cases for 25 years as a shareholder at the Davies Pearson law
firm in Tacoma. He litigated on both the plaintiff and defense side of
various legal conflicts in the areas of personal injury, medical
negligence, fire & property, product liability, maritime and toxic
torts.
Mr. Levy has served as a neutral for many years in
over 5,000 cases. In 1997 he left Davies Pearson to concentrate solely
on mediating disputes. He has participated in a wide range of complex
multi-party matters including employment, wrongful death, product
liability, commercial transactions, estate, medical negligence,
environmental damage, false arrest, sexual harassment and abuse, fire
& property, maritime, and environmental and toxic torts. Mr. Levy
has achieved the successful resolution of claims against public
entities including schools, transit, local, county and state government
agencies, administrators, and employees.
Mr. Levy is a federal mediator under
Rule 39.1, a volunteer facilitator for the King County Neighborhood
Legal Clinics program, and an occasional speaker at the Seattle
University and University of Washington Schools of Law. He is
frequently asked to be a presenter at annual Continuing Legal Education
seminars on negotiation and mediation practice and has served as a
judge for the Seattle University School of Law’s annual negotiation and
client counseling competitions. He has been appointed to serve as a
Discovery Special Master and Neutral Expert Witness in Superior Court
proceedings.
