WAMS Mediator Certification: 1986
Accomplishments: Mr. Levy began his law practice in 1968 after serving as a Navy JAG officer for four years. A substantial portion of his legal career involved personal injury and wrongful death cases on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. At the Davies Pearson law firm in Tacoma, he litigated in the areas of personal injury, medical negligence, fire & property, product liability, maritime, and environmental and toxic torts. In 1997, Mr. Levy retired from his litigation and arbitration practice to enable a full-time focus on mediation.
He has served as a neutral in nearly 5,000 cases since 1986. Mr. Levy has mediated claims involving a wide range of legal and emotional issues, including employment, wrongful death, product liability, commercial transactions, medical negligence, environmental damage, sexual harassment and professional negligence. He has significant experience as a mediator of cases involving multiple plaintiffs, including claims of property damage, environmental contamination, e-coli and food poisoning and major fire and natural disaster losses.
Mr. Levy also serves as a federal mediator under Rule 39.1, a volunteer facilitator for the King County Neighborhood Legal Clinics program, and as an occasional speaker at the Seattle University and University of Washington Schools of Law. He is frequently asked to be a presenter at annual Continuing Legal Education seminars on negotiation and mediation practice and has served as a judge for the Seattle University School of Law’s annual negotiation and client counseling competitions. He has been appointed to serve as a Discovery Special Master and Neutral Expert Witness in Superior Court proceedings.
