WAMS Mediator Certification: 1986
Accomplishments: Mr. Rush has been in
private practice with the Rush, Hannula, Harkins & Kyler firm in
Tacoma, Washington since 1959. His practice focuses primarily on
litigation involving matters relating to medical negligence and product
liability, but he has significant experience in the areas of
construction, business and family law.
On several occasions, Mr. Rush has served as Judge
Pro Tem in Pierce County District Court. He continues to serve as
arbitrator on uninsured motorist cases and through the Pierce and King
county mandatory arbitration programs. Mr. Rush has mediated over 400
disputes involving personal injury, product liability, professional
liability, commercial and business matters. He is admitted to practice
before the U.S. District Courts of Western and Eastern Washington, the
Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
During the past 30 years, Mr. Rush has been a
seminar instructor on litigation and related topics on over 60
different occasions. He has served in that capacity for the Washington
State Bar Association, the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association,
the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association, the Washington State Defense
Association, the Washington State Judge’s Association and various other
organizations, including medical and professional groups. Mr. Rush is
co-author of a section of the Washington State Trial Desk Book dealing
with Summary Judgment and Default.
